Date: August 2020- Present
Role: Media Manager
Kwashie is an new upcoming artist from Atlanta but is greatly influenced by his Ghanaian roots. He sound fuses Afro Beats, Pop and R&B.
Prior to assuming the role, Kwashie was preparing for the release of a music video for his song "Waistline". I was tasked with creating engaging content for social media (@kwashi.e) to drive video views. This resulted in over 11,000+ views in over a week.
My main takeaway was learning how to take initiative and to execute. Often, our team would get caught up with coming up with that "big idea" that would help drive views but instead ended up not executing on anything. The maxim "done is better than perfect" definitely applies and is what I learned from this experience.
I designed this post to explain the purpose behind the music video and what it stands for: acknowledging the influence of Black women (dark skinned in particular) in the music industry.
I created these videos using behind the scenes photos to announce the release date of the music video.
Showing bits of the music video, these Instagram stories I made were used as advertisements to convert the Instagram audience to YouTube views.
